Recently, social media have become popular venues for public discussions, debates and interaction. The algorithms and the filter bubble affect the individual contact to different opinions and expose to the similar contents. Then, the “echo chambers” occur in social media.
In Taiwan, people generally use PTT Bulletin Board System (PTT) to communicate with others and publicly express their opinions. Such as the “Sun Flower Student Movement”, that has shown the power of social media and how people use social media to empower themselves and overthrow governmental policy.
According to the previous study, most of the research explores the effect about echo chamber by hashtags or user's personal information in social media. However, PTT system is belongs to an anonymous mechanism. We cannot obtain the personal information. Therefore, we discuss the echo chambers about the “Five-day work week law event” by Sentiment Analysis. Overall, netizens reveal somewhat negative emotions toward this event. The debate on the “Five-day work week law event” occur within polarising “echo chambers” and homogeneity in the positive atmosphere discussions.
