陈枫先生1964年出身于辽宁沈阳，父亲是当地一家医院的院长，受家庭的熏陶，他本应成为一名医生，可他却对艺术充满了兴趣，为了满足他的兴趣爱好，父母精心为他挑选当地知名的老师，进行包括诗词、音乐、舞蹈、绘画、书法、摄影等艺术的培训。不论读小学还是读中学，他的艺术才华都被学校师生，乃至社会夸赞。14岁那年，他荣幸选入某部队做了一名文艺骨干，又先后进入沈阳军区前进歌舞团，武警文工团担任词曲创作员，由于他勤奋好学，又有艺术天分，随后调入海政歌舞团担任词曲作家。不久又担任海军军乐团副团长。

在追求艺术的道路上，有两位恩师是陈枫先生永生难忘的，一位是原沈阳军区前进歌舞团著名歌唱家董振厚老师，一位是扈邑老师，在两位老师的引导、帮助下，陈枫先生创作了《在那桃花盛开地方》，歌唱家董振厚首唱这首歌。歌曲《我把太阳迎进祖国》是沈阳军区某边防连连歌，1980年6月，诗人胡世宗来到“东方第一哨”乌苏镇哨所。写下了这首短小的战士抒情诗。这首诗最先发表在1980年的《解放军文艺》上,许多地方的报刊转载,又被收入初中语文课本。它由铁源、士心谱曲，由朱晓红、郁钧剑等演唱.东北边防部队广泛传唱。沈阳军区某边防连将此歌命名为自己的连歌。不少东北边防部队也命为自己的团歌、哨歌。后由青年作曲家陈枫谱曲、沈阳军区前进歌舞团一级演员任丽蔚演唱的版本光荣入选了中宣部第八届“五个一工程。本张专辑收录是边防连连歌版本，在歌词上有所不同，演唱者郁均剑。1988年8月，陈枫先生创作的曲作《我把心儿留给你》，获得由中国音乐家协会、中国文联、《歌曲》编辑部联合举办的《未来词曲作家大奖赛》上荣获金奖。那年陈枫先生只有28岁，是获奖中最年轻的一位。
