The story is far too long to be meaningfully represented in what little running time the film has.

The cardinal sin this movie commits is attempting to cram a 39 episode arc from the anime into a 90 minute movie, they couldn’t have been more lazier.

The issue with this movie is why it even exists. It's an abridged recap of the Alabasta arc, except it's told in a quick 90 minutes. Of course, it's very rushed; anybody not familiar with the source material would be very confused. Even more disappointingly, the movie doesn't do anything to remix the source material and justify its own existence. The only thing keeping this movie afloat is the strong source material. Alabasta is One Piece 's first epic arc and encapsulates all the wonderful qualities that made One Piece such a generational story.

The last scene is one of the most greatest scene in One Piece…

abridged version of the Alabasta arc (just the individual arc, not the entire saga) that aims to retell the story as quickly as possible in HD. And I mean quick, we get to the first fight with Crocodile like 10-15 minutes in. Don't even get to see Ace and Smoker in town first (which also means no banana croc jailbreak sequence).
It's a decent retelling, but probably could've stood to be a bit longer so it wasn't as light on the other story bits.

An interesting but not really useful new version of one of One Piece's best arcs. This new adaptation certainly gains in intensity and pace, but also loses in tension and emotion. It's not perfect, but it's cool enough to enjoy and rediscover the immense Crocodile in the best possible way.

Une nouvelle version intéressante mais pas réellement utile de l’un des meilleurs arc de One Piece. On gagne certes en intensité et en rythme mais on perd également en tension comme émotion dans cette nouvelle adaptation. Ce n’est donc pas parfait mais assez cool pour prendre du plaisir et retrouver l’immense Crocodile de la plus belle des manières.
