杨万民,教授,博士生导师。曾应邀分别赴德国高技术物理研究所、法国国家科研中心、波兰科学院物理所,巴西里约联邦大学、及英国剑桥大学等单位进行访问交流。曾参加二十余次国际学术会议,并在国际会议上作邀请报告多次。
教学方面,杨万民教授主要给本科生和研究生讲授理论及实践指导课,教授《超导物理》、《理论力学》、《热力学与统计物理》、《无机非金属材料物理性能》、《MATLAB及其在大学物理课程中的应用》、《Superconductivity, Superfluids and Condensates》双语教学等课程,编著有《超导物理》内部教材,参编《MATLAB及其在大学物理课程中的应用》,并指导培养博士和硕士研究生。
科研方面,杨万民教授主要从事高温超导材料研究工作,主持和参与完成国家“863”超导攻关项目、国家重大基础研究“973”项目、国家自然科学基金、教育部科学技术研究重大项目、高等学校博士学科点专项科研基金、其它省部级和横向科研项目20余项。在单畴REBCO超导块材制备技术、显微组织、磁悬浮规律及其应用技术开发方面做了大量工作,发明了多项专利技术,包括两类低成本制备单畴REBCO超导块材晶体生长的新方法,一类是以稀土金属氧化物和BaCuO2(011)粉体为固相源制备单畴REBCO晶体的新RE+011 TSIG法,另一类是直接以金属氧化物试剂制备单畴REBCO晶体的新MO-TSIG法,均为目前低成本制备大尺寸高质量单畴REBCO超导块材之简单有效的TSIG法,这显著降低了制备单畴REBCO超导块材的成本,并提高了单畴晶体的生长速率和超导性能,是极具发展潜力的新技术,处于国际领先水平;用RE+011 TSIG法制备出了直径55mm的单畴GdBCO超导块材和直径93 mm的单畴YBCO超导块材,是目前国内用单籽晶制备的最大样品,达到国际先进水平;REBCO超导块材的磁悬浮力已超过17.2 N/cm2(77K,0.5T),达到国际先进水平。采用新RE+011 TSIG法,制备的直径32mm厚8.4mm的单畴SmBCO超导块材在77K、1.2 T的充磁条件下,捕获磁通密度达到1.15 T(77K),是目前在大气环境下制备样品中国际上报道的最高值。
在Crystal Growth & Design、Appl.phys.Lett.、Supercond.Sci. Technol.、J. Am. Ceram. Soc.、Mater. Lett.、Mater. Chem. and Phy.、J. Alloy and Compond.、Physica C、中国科学等国际著名学术刊物上发表论文130余篇。在此基础上,获得部级科技成果一等奖2项;陕西省教学成果奖二等奖1项;陕西省发明专利二等奖1项;2017年“全国科学实验展演汇演活动”一等奖1项;其它奖多项;获得国家授权发明专利20项。发明设计的三维磁力和磁场测试装置、以及超导磁悬浮列车模型等装置已销往国内外。
