Contractors

The contractors who make this event happen employee IBEW Local 159 Electricians. Together contractors and electricians light up beautiful Olin park.

How did this all come to be? Back in 1989 when the Contractors and Electricians formed a new joint committee they pondered what they could do to support and better the community with their skills. The idea that rose to the top was to light something up in a beautiful way for all to enjoy- and naturally the holiday season came to mind. They began to dream of lighting up concepts like you might see in a coloring book…….What started with 11 displays at Warner park in 1989 has grown into over 50 display at Olin Park. Always Free for the community to enjoy.

Holiday Fantasy in Lights is a Green Event

IBEW and NECA are pleased to report that the energy consumption at the Holiday Fantasy in Lights was reduced by 82% at the 2009 event. Going green had been a goal of IBEW and NECA for several years. They had been experimenting with a handful of displays and LED bulbs in the 2000’s. In 2009, IBEW and NECA took the giant step to convert the entire light show to LED bulbs. This was a very large undertaking but worthwhile both financially and environmentally. But even with the savings gained, the event still needs the community’s support. IBEW and NECA could not hold this event year after year without your donations, which can be made at the exit of the event, and the business community’s support through display sponsorships.

Your dollars at the exit help NECA and IBEW 159 keep this event free for all, improve and maintain the show.  Additionally, NECA and IBEW 159 donate on behalf of the event to various organizations to include: The UW Burn Center, Habitat for Humanity, Project Home, and Big Step just to name a few.
