Shnaider gained revenge for two recent defeats at the hands of Leylah Fernandez, dominating the defending champion 6-4, 6-2. British No.1 Katie Boulter blazed into her third WTA final of the year with a never back down 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 triumph over No.6 seed Yuan Yue. (October 31, 2024, Hong Kong) A ‘thrilling’ second day of main draw second round action at the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open ensured a Halloween of highly entertaining Centre Court action. ‘Feisty Cat’ Sofia Kenin simply purred through her Halloween encounter with Jessika Ponchet to book her place in the tournament quarterfinals. After a tightly-fought first set, Kenin’s ball- striking ability began to take hold with increasing regularity and although Ponchet managed to save a match-point towards the business end of the game, it was not nearly enough to stop the former Grand Slam champion from going through 7-5, 6-4.
